Marilee Burnside
Marilee's interest of glass art was sparked in the late 60's
during a school field trip to Zimmerman's hot glass studio, in Corydon, Indiana.
Her fascination with glass simmered on the back burner, until 2003, when she
began her professional glass art career as a volunteer at Louisville Glassworks.
In 2005 she joined the management staff at Glassworks as Director of the Tour & Activities
departments, and subsequently as Director of Glassworks class programming.
In November of 2007, she, along with Rhonda Snyder and the Tour staff, opened
the Walk-in Workshop at Glassworks, bringing cold and warm glass activities
to the forefront of the Louisville Glassworks experience. Marilee retired from
Glassworks Tours and Walk-in Workshop in August 2008, to pursue her own studio
work, opening Marilee Glass Design, LLC. Marilee's studio focus is warm glass,
using the kiln to create jewelry, plates, bowls, and other fused works. Marilee's
innate design sense of balance, harmony, and symmetry are evident in her work.
Marilee enjoys sharing her knowledge, and is happiest teaching others the joy
and satisfaction of creating with warm glass.
